PC 152 - May2002 reading and watching TV

I've not been doing much; just reading Walden by Henry David Thoreau

it was refreshing and comforting to find that he absolutely agreed with most of my own philosophies namely that society is predominantly bonkers and he was writing 150 years ago. Why do people make themselves into slaves etc ? my notes on Walden by Henry David Thoreau

Went to Wheaton Aston Festival(Folk Festival - OK but not really my music), Ironbridge (One of the UK's best places to visit for foreigners, picturesque and the site of the beginning of the worlds industrial revolution), Shrewsbury, Leek, Alton (Staffordshire Dales), Buxton

Britain really does seem like a culture desert. Theres nothing good to do, our society has painted itself into a corner with conventions of behaviour we are afraid of people and over respectful of privacy, tact makes us deceitful in that we don't say what we really think ....so we don't properly interact
More Why I hate the UK

Watching a lot of Documentaries as usual ...BBC2 TV Prog "The Experiment" Where psychologists put 15 people in a prisoner and guards situation for 2 weeks. What I saw was that there are well adjusted people who are willing to get on and respect other people, but at the same time there are disruptors who behave in a different way; they feel agrieved, have fun at other people expence they take more than their fair share etc ...and just make trouble. And I can apply it to contemporary UK culture : the disruptors mess it up for the rest of us.
So much resources are used up in security measures and policing the disruptive people

..I've really got to get out the country in the next two weeks before the media feed us wall to wall World Cup and Royal Jubilee hype....
